High spirits and a healthy dose of teamwork are the hallmarks of Bay Minette Middle School, which serves seventh and eighth grade students of north Baldwin County. The school takes pride in its family atmosphere, and added perks like peer tutoring and the Positive Behavior Support Club, encourage camaraderie among students.

A typical school day takes students from arrival at the gym to their first period classes. At the end of first period, students watch the BMMS daily newscast, a broadcast produced by students and featuring BMMS student news anchors. The eight period school day is composed of five core subjects and related arts, so students experience academic rigor and constant engagement. In the computer lab and career tech classes, students have access to laptops, Interwrite tablets and Promethean boards for receiving instruction and completing assignments and projects. Students can even take online courses and
use the Internet for remediation on school work.

The BMMS library is a center of activity housed in an inviting atmosphere of bright, seasonal decorations, and the halls of BMMS are bright with student artwork. Students interested in music can join the jazz band or chorus, and both groups are quite proficient. In preparation for standardized testing each year, students meet with school counselors and curriculum coaches who help them understand their previous years' scores and plot their achievement on a grid related to grade level expectations. Students are then allowed to set their own improvement goals, and most experience a sense of personal responsibility for their achievement on future tests. Character development is valued and supported at BMMS. Through the Positive Behavior Support Club, teachers issue "Tiger tokens" to students who go above and beyond typical behavior expectations. Tokens are used to take part in out of town athletic events and to purchase tickets to the school's annual Costume Ball and Mardi Gras dance, both hosted by the PBS Club. BMMS prioritizes school attendance, and during the most  recent 20 day period where attendance was documented for state and county purposes, BMMS had a 97 percent daily average.

Overall, students enjoy being at school. They have good relationships with their peers, and for the most part, they like their teachers. A general sense of closeness exists at the school, and students are often observed encouraging one another rather than being critical. BMMS is proud of its students and proud to operate by the motto, "Working Together Works!"
