Mark Twain Visits BMMS
Wednesday, March 03, 2010

Bay Minette Middle School Library is celebrating along with other school libraries across the state of Alabama, "The Big Read". Our library has a display of some of Mark Twain's books and pictures. Our art teacher Mrs. Pam Coffman and her honors art class painted a replica of Mark Twains's home in Hartford, Connecticut, where he was inspired to write The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. BMMS was honored to have Mr. Mark Twain, himself on campus where he presented a copy of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer to Mrs. Wright in the library and visited several Literature classes to share his life as a writer. The purpose behind this celebration is to bring reading back to the center of American Culture, as well as inspire us to become life-long readers.
